Thank you for your email to Fr Martin Coyle and myself with the copy of the one you have sent to Chief Superintendent Donnellan. The allegations against Fr George Williams are in the hands of the police and we will of course cooperate with them in any way that they might require.

 

However I do have to point out that the heading of your email is misleading. This heading states ‘Investigation into allegations of child abuse at Salesian College Bolton’. This can be read as stating that the allegations relate to ‘child abuse at the Salesian College Bolton’. The allegations against George Williams have nothing to do with the Salesian College in Bolton and do not relate to any alleged abuse ‘at Salesian College Bolton’.

Dear Chief Superintendent Donnellan

 

I have contacted your division several times over the past six months, using your force website and email, but I have not had any response. My concerns relate to a joint Bolton Police/Bolton Social Services investigation into multiple allegations of child sexual abuse involving a Fr George WILLIAMS, a Provincial of the Salesians of Don Bosco. DS Isherwood (of your Division) informed me a while back that he had carried out the investigation, and no further action was taken. I have since discovered that it was Bolton Social services who carried out the investigation, not Bolton Police, and the senior manager, Bob Dodgson, who conducted the investigation was, in fact, a former governor of the Salesian College in Bolton.

 

This conflict of interest has now come to light, and I have challenged Bolton Children's Safeguarding Board to investigate, which they are currently doing. I have also challenged Bolton Police, but you have so far ignored me.

 

Can I ask you, therefore, to acknowledge my correspondence with your division, and respond. If you want to confirm my credentials, you can ask the Metropolitan Police Child Abuse Command, who recognise my charity, The Lantern Project, as a 'Partner Agency'.
